Anna and Fred
Anna and Fred met in London in 2013 and quickly fell deep in love with each other and with rope. Through the shibari scene they met some of their best friends, had wonderful adventures, and strengthened their connection to each other. They’ve been married in 2019.
In June 2015, they co-founded Anatomie Studio as a hub for learning and practising Japanese-inspired rope bondage. They wanted to create a relaxed space where people could connect, meet like-minded folk, and enjoy rope together. What began in their home has grown into a dedicated venue that still retains a cosy, living-room feel – even with the impressive custom metallic frame suspended above it.
Rope has allowed them to teach and perform internationally over the years. As ex-academics, they remain passionate about fostering safe, thoughtful, and sustainable rope bondage practices. Currently they are more rooted in their local scene, as this is where they find the most meaning. They love welcoming new people into their space and witnessing the friendships and relationships that form at Anatomie. Despite having a large dedicated team, you'll invariably find one of them at almost every event – Anatomie is their pride and joy, and a lot of love gets poured into it.
Fred Hatt is an experienced shibari educator with a decade of teaching experience. He regularly teaches in London and abroad (including online at Shibari Study), focusing on both the "how" and "why" of rope. Known for his technical approach, he pays close attention to the small details that make a tie work. His style leans towards transitions and predicaments, and while naturally introverted, he is a thoughtful and dedicated teacher invested in making information accessible and practical.
Anna Bones is passionate about all aspects of rope—self-tying, bottoming, and rigging—and sees it as a tool for self-discovery, trust, and intimacy. She describes herself as a bottom who ties and a shy rigger. While she has taught and performed worldwide, her true passion is teaching beginners and welcoming them to her home studio, setting them off on a path of self-discovery.
