London's home for shibari
London's home for rope education, community and play since 2015
Who are we?
Operating since 2015, Anatomie Studio is the UK’s first full-time shibari educational space – offering a consent-focused venue for learning and practicing shibari – or Japanese Rope Art. Conveniently located in a railway arch in vibrant Peckham (next to Queens Road Station), we offer a modern and practical approach to Shibari, with an emphasis on partnership and connection. We run regular educational and practice sessions every week. The sessions are informal, relaxed, and social. You’ll need to book a ticket and can join solo or with a partner or friend.
What is shibari?
Shibari is the Japanese practice of rope binding, with roots in visual art, theatre, and erotic culture. Though often mythologised, it is a relatively modern practice that has grown into a form of rope play where one person ties another, exploring restraint, power exchange, and trust. Today, it is embraced worldwide as both an intimate practice and a visual art, suited to many kinds of relationships — from couples to friendships.
